Every active domain is registered on the name of a person and through the registration process numerous details are introduced - the owner’s names, address, email, contact number, and so forth. This info combined with the registrar company name and the registration/expiration dates is recognized as WHOIS of the domain address and in agreement with the policies of Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) it should be current and correct. If an Internet domain has invalid WHOIS details, it may be reported and if the details aren't corrected, the Internet domain can be deleted or the registrar company could take over its ownership. By default, the WHOIS details are public and may be seen on many lookup sites, or for a smaller number of country-code extensions - on the websites of the respective Registry businesses. All companies which provide registration services are obliged to provide a simple way for their customers to access and change the WHOIS information of any domain they own as much as the particular TLD allows it.
